Update on Bernie...

Hello Everyone!
I was shocked and saddened that Bernie was having this health issue (see comment section of previous blog).   What you suggested though, sounds like a good idea.  Any method of communication with Bernie would be better than no communication.  ED the IT guy and Girl Friday have been longing to hear from Bernie and we had been wondering how he is doing.  Please keep communicating with Bernie and let us know if there is any chance that he might be broadcasting again.  Thank you so much for staying in touch with Bernie!  ED the IT guy and Girl Friday

  2. Hi Bernie,
Hope you're coming out of your surgery fully recovered. Have always been a loyal listener. I don't fully understand why you were able to write a (much welcomed) prison blog but are unable to do so now that you a a free man. Are you on some kind of parole restriction? Hope this will at some point come fully to light. I really hope all is well at your end. Please don't give up! With sincere good wishes, Joe D.

  5. holy CRAP man. you would have a FIELD DAY with this election. i recall that you were one of the few voices on the radio that WARNED of this very real threat about America going full on swastika-confederate dunce tinfoil cap STUPID. it came, it saw, and it DIED.

  8. Two true American heroes, Bernie Ward and Bernie Sanders! Bernie here's praying for a quick recovery and for you to return to your medium, we miss the 'Lion on the Left' and the true voice of reason/sanity!

  9. Here's wishing a Merry Christmas to the Lion and his family.

  10. How did lunch with Bernie go? I have a request if you see or speak to Bernie again...I'm thinkin' we could use a prayer of hope right about now. As January 20 approaches, I know we will get through it all but can't help but feel trepidation over the possible damage that will be done over the next few years. Any thoughts out there?

  11. has anyone heard from Bernie Ward? How is he doing?

  12. Well, we are living in a political/social nightmare. Trump et al are dismantling all of President Obama's progress. As in Bush 2days, the world is stunned by our "choice" for Pres. We will be despised for our hateful policies, our exclusion of immigrants our wrecklessness regarding climate issues...the silver lining being the fresh activism. We are showing our disdain for this ruthless, lawless regime. Back to you Bernie, hope you're well, somehow let us hear your voice. Many of us miss you and your blistering commentary..

  13. Well the fact that this website is still up gives us hope that the Lion will someday somehow find a way to get some information through. Yes there those of us who still check this thing everyday in the hopes that something new will appear.

  19. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with Bernie Ward? It's important. If anyone is in contact with Bernie, or if Bernie sees this, please contact me through Facebook - Mildred Ellison. Thank you

    1. This is Bernie's address on the SF sex offender registry.

      3300 Kirkham St
      SF CA 94122

Bernie screwed up and has paid his dues. Of course he will continue paying those dues as there is no route off the list that I know about. Except for the last way off.

That said, I owe a huge debt to Bernie for helping me get through the Bush/Cheney years. A huge debt.

If you contact Bernie please let him know that there is at least one person who is able to compartmentalize his problems from his wisdom and knowledge.

I'd love to hear his take on today's politics. I suspect there's a lot to learn from his perspective.

  20. Glad to see that Bernie is not forgotten. Those of us who still check this website on a daily basis in the hope something will appear are happy to see any new posts.

How nice it would be to hear Bernie's take on world affairs these days. Take care everyone and keep the hope alive.

  21. Happy fourth to Bernie wherever he may be. Yes there are of us who are able to 'cpmpartmentalize' his past and would love to hear (or read) him again. It's all but confirmed that for some legal reason he can no longer write in this blog, not being an attorney I don't know how that squares with the first amendment, but as long as this web-site is still up we will continue to check it. Happy 4th Bernie

  24. I just wrote Governor Brown's office requesting that his office consider a pardon for Bernie.

    Consider, not grant.

I do not know if Bernie deserves to be pardoned because I don't know the details of his offense and his present condition. But because of the positive he has given the community I'd like to see his case reviewed.

If others have similar feelings then you might send a quick request to the governor's office.

  29. What is going on? Bernie is a human being. He provided tremendous interest and discussion to the Bay Area. He served his time. Why has he disappeared? Unless he has lost all interest in political issues, why has he been silenced? It's been a DECADE? Can we please hear something one way or another?

    1. I second the motion, Bernie's absence is more of a mystery than the disappearance of flight 370. Somebody must know something about all this.

  30. I wish we know what's going on with you Bernie. At least when ou were in prison, we had a chance to write to you and see how you're doing. Now that you're out, the government have silenced you and I'm not surprise they did that to you because that's what they want. Hang in there Bernie.

  31. If you go to his address on Google Earth street view, you can see a fellow giving the bird to the Google vehicle. Is that you Bernie?

  32. Bernie, we do miss you. In the early to mid 90s, I was living in my truck and all I had to listen to was a teeny little radio that only got one station. That was KGO.

KGO was my link with the outside world and listening to Bernie made me understand that for the first time that I was not alone and that I wasn't a piece of garbage for being homeless. I will never be able to thank KGO, the wonderful people who worked there then, and especially Bernie for getting me through those dark days.

Thank you so much, Bernie, and please let us know how you're doing.

    1. How lovely of you to tell your story! KGO was a beacon of light to many of us but your touching on Bernie's humanity is especially poignant. I cannot begin to understand how or why Bernie has been silenced, but if each of us were defined by our worst mistakes there would be no one left standing. Blessings to you and yours, and prayers that Bernie will be able to tell his own story one day...

  33. There's a rumor that the old KGO may be reincarnated in some form another. Who know what the future may bring,,,

I wouldn't hold my breath on this but who knows.

  34. I would pay good money to hear a talk from Bernie again (Commonwealth Club?). Why isn't he being allowed to speak? He paid his dues now give the man back his freedom. Bernie we still think about you all the time and terribly miss your show. Just hearing you a few minutes a day would make a bid difference in our lives. Stay well brother.

  35. Thank you Bernie. Was in the Chronicle & I think Washington Post commenting on Georgetown Prep. Hope you allowed to speak out more. Ten years & we still miss you every day.

  36. Will Bernie be doing any speaking engagements? What is going on and why is he being silenced? For God's sake, Trump is pardoning criminals with multiple MULTIPLE felonies. Bernie has already paid his dues. With so many of KGO's hosts being lost over the years and now Taliaferro disappearing, why can't we hear Bernie again. His night shows and Sunday mornings were always interesting. Please come back Bernie.

  40. Believe it or not, it has been roughly twenty-four years ago since I first stumbled across Bernie Ward doing his nightly program on a 50kW radio station broadcasting out of San Francisco, CA. Boy did I instantly fall 'head over heels' with Bernie Ward.
