Freedom of Speech - The Lion of the Left SuperPAC - Also a note about comment moderation

Hi there, this is Ed the IT guy with a message. It appears that there is some confusion over exactly how this blog works. Some people posting comments seem to think that Bernie Ward is in control of this blog, directly posting to it in violation of some kind of ban he might be under, restricting his use of the Internet. I am not sure of the legal specifics of such a ban, or if he is indeed under one or not. HOWEVER, "The Lion" does not do the posting, nor does he have editorial control over the content of this blog, as it is maintained entirely by The Lion of the Left SuperPAC, who post select writings on various issues of the day that we have come upon. Most of these do happen to be written by The Lion of the Left, and in exercising our freedom of speech, as the Supreme Court, in it's infinite wisdom has said SuperPACs are allowed to do, we at The Lion of the Left SuperPAC choose to post these well-thought out commentaries for those who may wish to read them. THE LION OF THE LEFT SUPERPAC DOES THIS ENTIRELY OF OUR OWN VOLITION, AND HAS NO DIRECT LINK WITH HIM, ALTHOUGH WE OFTEN CHOOSE TO POST WORDS HE MAY HAVE WRITTEN. This is entirely legal, as decided by the Supreme Court in the Citizens United case. Also just because a man is in jail, he does not lose the right to communicate with the outside world in the United States. As long as we continue to recieve his insightful words, we at The Lion of the Left SuperPAC will continue to exercise OUR freedom of speech and post them as we see fit.

As some of you may have noticed, there has been someone who, with entirely too much time on their hands, has decided to carry out a childish vendetta through our comments section. As a result, we at The Lion of the Left SuperPAC will be reviewing all comments BEFORE they are published. We have tried to keep this an open discussion by allowing comments to be published immediately, but this process has been abused by a very small group who are obsessed with repeatedly posting multiple copies of comments that are only personal attacks, having nothing to do with the topics being discussed, and so now comments will be moderated. We will not block comments merely for being in disagreement with a view posted here, as we encourage discussion of the issues, but comments that are only personal attacks will not make it to the blog for public viewing. ALSO: THERE IS NOT OR EVER WILL BE ADULT CONTENT ON THIS BLOG, AND ANY COMMENT WITH INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED! Whoever you are, (and you know who you are), you have the freedom to start your own blog if you wish to spend so much of your time and energy defaming "The Lion", and discussing details of his case. "The Lion" has addressed the issue as you requested, and now we're on to other topics-case closed! Again, start your own blog if you wish; but this is not the place for that. Regrettably, this will cause somewhat of a delay for the rest of your comments to show up, but we will try to get any legitimate comments up as soon as possible. Thank the vast majority of you for your support, yours truly, Ed the IT Guy

  1. So what you are saying is that there are topics that are not allowed in this blog?? Really?? wow, never come across a blog like that. for instance this comment is about your comment, is that ok? what subjects are not allowed? A SUPER PAC is put together in support of a candidate so that contributions can be demonstrated. How is this blog a super pac? how much of my comment is appropriate?

    1. Okay, your questions are fair enough. First, on the "SuperPAC" thing. PAC stands for "political action committee". So why are we a one? Well basically what a "SuperPAC" does is support and advocate it's belief in the views of a political figure. Even though "The Lion" isn't a canadate for office, he certainly is a political figure. That said there are many ways to support a political figure's views other than by fund raising. We do not fund raise and have no intention of ever doing so. We support "The Lion's views by choosing to post some of his political views he has written. We do this on our own, as is our right of free speech, independant of "The Lion". Even if he were to be forbidden to use the Internet, there is no law against us posting his writings online. We post it - he has no personal interaction with the Internet. Call us a SuperPAC or call us journalists, we are exercising our right of free speach. As far as the moderating the of comments, most professional web sites comments are actively moderated, and I'm sure many blogs are as well. No responsable blog administrator would tolerate the multiple reposting of the types of posts that have been deleted, many with inappropriate content and all strictly for the purpose of defameing the writer.

  2. The attacks on Bernie probably come from people who think that Head Start and public preschool programs should be de-funded,who are mad that THEIR taxes go to fund public schools, demonize public schoolteachers and teachers' unions, and believe there should be NO public healthcare even for those under 18-yet believe that posting nasty comments blasting someone who isn't here to defend himself proves they 'Care About Children.'

  3. Ed, I'm surprised you haven't been approving comments up 'til now. Most public blogs do, as there are morons who will find unregulated blogs just to spam them with bile, because certain kinds of exhibitionists get off on that sort of thing. It's like writing the f-bomb on the wall of the boy's bathroom in junior high. Same mentality and maturity level.

So, don't apologize for what has become the industry standard. I have a blog critical of how dog parks are run (of all things), and the morons commenting there made me review comments before publishing.

Oh, and they won't take your advice on doing their own blog any more than the junior high kid will build his own bathroom stall. It's not the way of the social parasite.

Thanks for your and Girl Friday's work!

    1. Thank you very much for your support. We think you are probably right; they probably don't have enough initiative to start their own blog. They just wanted to take advantage of our space here. Sincerely, Ed the IT Guy and Girl Friday

  5. I think you are overreacting to any perceived Republican attacks which will obviously be hyped up lies about "protecting the children" and "a criminal is on the loose". Give me a break. You don't even have to make a separation as in this SuperPAC thing. This blog is not for profit and I don't believe the entries are being used for some upcoming 'best seller'. The legal reality is that a prisoner can send letters and anyone in the world can publish those letters. Don't back down to these idiots who are attacking the blog. Just state the legal facts and carry on. There are many, many, many of us out here who get a great deal out of the analysis that Bernie shares. You would think any true Christian would understand that.

  6. Thank you, Ed, for editing out the idiots who just want to smear Bernie. I found it irritating to have to read that crap. Obviously, they have no real interest in the subjects found here.

  7. Thank you, Ed and Girl Friday. I appreciate all you do to make Bernie's posts possible. Thank you for editing out garbage replies, making more work for you, I'm sure. I found your analogy to being a SuperPAC hilarious!

  8. This blog seems to much more open to posting thoughtful opposing comments than say the Rush show or come to think of it any right wing whoreperate media propoganda machine backed entity.

The right are waging a desperate media blitz that is being recognized for what it is, the dying gasp of a failed ideal.

    Keep the faith...
